LMserver Plus [Syntax, Inc]

LMserver is LAN server software for UNIX that allows PC clients on anetwork controlled access to resources existing on UNIX host servercomputers. Clients may connect to LMserver and access files kept on theserver, submit files to server printers, execute applications resident onthe server and use Inter-Process Communication (IPC) facilities toperform cooperative processing with servers. Other facilities availablein connection with LMserver include NetBIOS-compatible terminalemulation, network file backup and retrieval, and critical clientservices that access resources resident on other servers. LMserverincludes a menu-driven interface, TotalAdmin, which enables a user toadminister all LMserver hosts in a domain from DOS PC. TotalAdmin doesnot require the administrator to use UNIX commands. Other features ofLMserver are remote administration from a DOS workstation through aunique user interface, file replication, allocation of LMserver computersinto domains, central administration of all servers in a domain, remoteboot capability (RIPL) and maintenance of additional statistics inaccordance with additional SMB support.
